Goldenrule believes "A hand up is a way out".
Goldenrule Housing & Community Development Corporation Inc. (Goldenrule) was established on April 9, 1991, as a ministry to combat community blight and abuse of low-income families by slumlords in Seminole County. The organization serves as a bridge, informing families about upcoming and current government and other agency programs for low-income families. Goldenrule is a regional organization founded and developed to address the needs of residents living in substandard housing.
The City of Sanford challenged Goldenrule to find five qualified families to build homes on five lots that the City donated. The challenge was to have this mission accomplished within one year. Not only did Goldenrule meet the challenge, but it also accomplished it in six months...and continues to meet the community's need for affordable housing.
We assist families in becoming first-time homeowners by creating opportunities to find new homes, repair/restore existing homes, and help those in danger of losing their homes due to foreclosure. We also provide information about rental assistance, resources, and referrals.
For over 20 years, Goldenrule has closed the gap between government and the low-income community to find permanent homes for families.
We are affiliated with H-CAR (consortium of nine county HUD Housing Counseling Agencies), The Seminole County Committee on Aging, Community of Legal Services, the Non-Profit Round Table, the Federal Government's Housing and Urban Development Agency, and other agencies.
We believe every family needs a partner to count on
